Blaine County Search and Rescue (BCSAR) is a dedicated group of ~ 40 volunteer members who are under the direction of the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office. The Commander of the BCSAR group is Lt. Bryan Carpita of the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office.
The primary mission of BCSAR is to provide search and rescue capability for those lost, injured, or exposed to natural or man-made disasters in Blaine County. Typical scenarios include searching for lost children, hikers, skiers, hunters, and responding to avalanches and other disasters. BCSAR team members train extensively and obtain certifications in various disciplines to support the team’ mission. There are specialty teams such as K-9, navigation, man-tracking, and motorized equipment.
The primary funding for BCSAR is proceeds from the Great Wagon Days Duck Race.
